The Brighter Days Foundation is an incorporated fundraising entity run by a dedicated group of volunteers from Melbourne and Bright. The charities they support are: DEBRA Australia (Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Association), The Cooper Trewin Memorial SUDC Research Foundation and CurEB Research Foundation. The Brighter Days Foundation run a Bikes, Cars and Music fundraising event every year called the Brighter Days Festival – which has now been running for over 10 years and raised millions for their charities.

Based in urban Melbourne, the club was originally formed in 1963 by immigrants with a Serbian background who relocated to Australia in search of better life opportunities. Mr. Ostoja Pekic is credited with being the first founding member and was quickly joined by his peers, predominately from local church organisations. FC Melbourne is the oldest football club based in the Yarra Council area. Each year they welcome to their home ground approximately 70-80 opposition teams across all the various competitions that their teams play in.
